The Transformation of Educational Assessment through Digital Technology
Kata Kunci:

Digital transformation has brought fundamental changes to the practice of educational assessment—in its instruments, the process of collecting data, the giving of feedback, and the use of assessment results to support learning. Assessment is no longer limited to measuring learning outcomes through conventional tests but has developed toward digital assessment that is more adaptive, diagnostic, authentic, continuous, and data-based. This study aimed to analyze the transformation of educational assessment through digital technology and to identify its opportunities, pedagogical changes, and challenges of implementation. The study used a qualitative method with a literature-study approach. The data came from twenty scholarly articles addressing digital assessment, online assessment, formative assessment, authentic assessment, artificial intelligence, diagnostic assessment, and technology-based assessment practice at various levels of education. The analysis was descriptive-interpretive, identifying the principal themes emerging from the literature and then connecting findings across sources to obtain a comprehensive understanding. The results show that digital technology transforms assessment through the expansion of forms of evidence of learning, the acceleration of feedback, the personalization of learning, the use of data analytics, the automation of certain processes, and increased opportunities for authentic assessment. This transformation, however, also raises issues related to teachers' digital competence, the readiness of infrastructure, validity and reliability, academic integrity, the digital divide, data privacy, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. The transformation of assessment is therefore not merely a change from paper-based to device-based assessment but a paradigm change that places technology within the pedagogical ecosystem and the making of learning decisions.
